ELEMENTS:               Persons in control of enclosed off-street parking for businesses, shopping malls, theaters, auditoriums, sporting and recreational facilities, cultural centers, residential dwellings must provide a certain amount of parking spaces for vehicles with legitimate handicapped identifications from any state or Canadian province.

                                    15 – 25 spaces = 1 HP space

                                    25 – 40 spaces =  5% but not less than 2 HP spaces

                                    40 –100 spaces = 4% but not less than 3 HP spaces

                                    100 – 200 spaces = 3% but not less than 4 HP spaces

                                    200 – 500 spaces = 2% but not less than 6 HP spaces

                                    500 – 1,000 spaces = 1 ½ % but not less than 10 HP spaces

                                    1,000 – 2,000 spaces = 1% but not less than 15  HP spaces

                                    2,000- 5,000 spaces = ¾ % but not less than 20 HP spaces

                                    5,000 + spaces = ½ % but not less than 30 HP spaces

                                    Spaces must be 12 feet wide or two 8 feet wide with 4 feet cross hatch in between.  Spaces shall be near as possible to building entrance and adjacent to curb ramps for unobstructed access to sidewalk.  Requires above grade sign “Handicapped Parking:  Special Plate Required.  Unauthorized Vehicles May be Removed at Owner’s Expense.”

 

PENALTIES:               FINE – Violation of above $300 per day.

 

ELEMENTS:               The leaving of vehicles unattended within parking spaces designated as reserved for vehicles owned and operated by disabled veterans or handicapped persons is hereby prohibited.  This ordinance further prohibits the leaving of unauthorized vehicles in such a manner as to obstruct a curb ramp designed for use by handicapped persons as a means of egress to a street or public way.

 

PENALTIES:               FINE - $100
