Subject:            New Police Officers

 

            On Thursday, October 30, 2007, six new Lynn Police Officers completed (24) weeks of training at the MBTA Transit Police Academy in Quincy. Graduation exercises were held at 11:00 a.m., in the Great Hall in Faneuil Hall in Boston. There was a total of (37) recruit officers in the graduating class. At the start of the academy, there were (51) recruits     

      During their training, John Bernard was named Platoon Guide, and Ashley Wright was elected class Secretary. At the graduation exercises, several awards were presented to graduates. John Bernard was honored with the Physical Fitness Award, and the Honor Graduate Award. Masrob Torosian received the Staff Instructors Award.

This evening at 5:00 p.m., the new officers will be sworn in as Lynn Police Officers. The ceremony will take place in the Mayor’s Office at, Lynn City Hall. Beginning on October 31, 2007, the new officers will complete three days of department orientation, and effective November 4, 2007, they will be assigned to the Patrol Divisions.

 Each officer will complete (30) days of training on each of the three Patrol Divisions, under the command of Captain Leonard Desmarais. During this (90) day period, the new officers will be assigned to work with experienced officers, selected by the various Patrol Division Commanding Officers.
