Update - 10/30/2009

The Lynn Police have arrested a sixteen year old Lynn Classical student who has been charged with two counts of Armed Assault with intent to Murder and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife).  Pursuant to a follow-up investigation conducted by the Lynn Police Juvenile Unit, Gang Unit, and Criminal Investigation Division, investigators developed information that one of the originally reported victims in yesterday’s incident was in fact the perpetrator.  No further arrests are anticipated.  The juvenile should be arraigned this morning and his identity is not being released because of his age.

Subject:  Stabbing Incident (Multiple Victims)

At approximately 1505 hrs, the Lynn Police responded to a residential address within the city on a report that a seventeen year old had been stabbed.  At 1513 hrs, the Lynn Police received a report from a witness that they had transported a sixteen year old stabbing victim to the Emergency Room at the North Shore Medical Center/Union Hospital in Lynn.  Officers on location at the residential address noted that the seventeen year old had sustained puncture wounds to the back and leg.  This victim was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital and is listed in stable/guarded condition.  The sixteen year old at Union E.R. sustained non life-threatening injuries, the type and extent of which are being withheld at this time.

As officers began investigating the matter, the Lynn Police were notified that there was an additional stabbing victim in surgery at North Shore Medical Center/Salem Hospital.  Officers responded to the Salem Emergency Room where they learned that there were in fact three additional stabbing victims being treated.  The original reported victim, age 18, suffered stab wounds to the torso and arm and was reported to be in stable condition.  It should be noted that the original report relative to surgery for this victim was incorrect: no surgery was performed.   The first of the other two victims was fifteen years of age: the victim sustained non life-threatening injuries, the type and extent of which are being withheld at this time.  The fifth victim, age seventeen, suffered a stab wound to the back and is in stable condition.

This incident is currently being investigated by our Criminal Investigation Division.  At this point, we can confirm that all victims/parties involved were male and students attending Lynn Classical High School.  The incident appears to have occurred sometime after dismissal at the intersection of Holyoke Street and Keslar Avenue.  The names of the juveniles and the seventeen and eighteen year old victims are not being released at this time.  Again, the investigation is active and ongoing.
