Subject:            L.E.H.S.

On Sunday, September 23, 2007, at approximately 3:40 P.M., a 17-year old male student, from Lynn English High School arrived at the front desk of the Lynn Police Station. He was accompanied by his mother, and a school administrator. He reported receiving several suspicious phone calls over the past few weeks. One of the calls was from an unknown male party, who told him not to go to school on Monday, September 24, 2007. The caller warned that he could be harmed, and stated that he did not want to see him get hurt.

Lieutenant William Borders, supervisor of the Lynn Police Department’s Juvenile Unit is conducting an investigation into this matter. Lieutenant Borders is working with: Lynn English School Resource Officer Mark Smith, Director of School Security, Officer Robert Ferrari, and Lynn English High School teachers and administrators.

At this time, there is nothing to indicate that the warning is credible. Nonetheless, police and school officials are treating the matter seriously. As part of the investigation, attempts are being made to track down the source of the phone calls. In addition, precautionary measures, such as extra patrols, have been assigned to the area of the school.
