Date: August 1, 2007 Subject: Shooting / Hollingsworth & Cook Street
On Tuesday, July 31, 2007, at approximately 9:46 P.M., Lynn Police responded to the area of Cook Street and Hollingsworth Street on a report of a shooting. Upon the officers’ arrival, they located the victim, Luis Dominguez, age 23, of Lynn. He suffered from a gunshot wound to his right leg. Dominguez was treated at the scene by Lynn Fire, and transported to Massachusetts General Hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, and he is currently listed in stable condition. The initial investigation suggested that a gray or black motor vehicle, possibly a Honda, pulled up to Dominguez while he was standing near the intersection. There was an exchange of words, between the occupants, who were described as Hispanic males, and Dominguez. At some point, a gunshot was fired from within the vehicle, which struck Dominguez in the right leg. The vehicle then fled the scene, down Cook Street towards Jefferson Street. The driver was described as a dark skinned Hispanic male with braids. The front seat passenger was described as a dark skinned Hispanic male, heavy set, with a frizzy pony tail. Additionally, it was reported that two dark skinned Hispanic males were in the back seat. One was wearing a white t-shirt, the other a black hooded style shirt. At this time, no arrests have been made and the incident is under investigation with the Lynn Police Gang Unit. During the course of the investigation, the detectives will determine whether or not there is a gang related connection.
