Re:       Shooting Incidents

In a (9) hour period from 8:00 p.m. on June 7th to 5:00 a.m. on June 8th, Lynn Police investigated (4) separate shooting incidents. A total of (5) persons sustained gunshot wounds, and one person sustained a serious stab wound. One person has died as a result of gunshot wounds.

(1): In the first incident at approximately 8:00 p.m., Lynn Police responded to 64 Broad Street on a report of gunshots. Upon arrival, Officers entered the rear yard where a party was being held. There they located Arthur Pena, age (41), of Boston, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his right lower leg. He was transported to the North Shore Medical Center (Union Hospital), Lynn, for treatment.

Outside the address, Officers located Steven Reth, age 24, of Lynn. He sustained a gunshot wound to a leg, and was transported to the North Shore Medical Center (Union Hospital), Lynn, for treatment.

A short distance away from the party, other responding Officers located a subject who had sustained a significant stab wound to his back. He was transported to Mass. General Hospital and is listed in stable condition. He was identified as Dora Dahn, age 22, Lynn.

According to witnesses, an argument took place in the rear yard of the address and proceeded to the front of the address where an altercation followed. All of the victims either refused to cooperate with investigators or provided limited information. The subject who allegedly shot Reth and Pena could only be described as an Asian male with a pony-tail, who was wearing a white tee-shirt. This incident is believed to be gang related. No arrests have been made thus far regarding this incident, and investigators continue to conduct interviews to confirm what exactly occurred and to identify suspects.

A short time after this incident, Lynn Police Department Gang Unit Officers arrested a (15) year old Lynn resident, who is believed to be a Blood gang member for delinquency by reason of illegally carrying a firearm. This subject was arrested after a foot pursuit in the area of 40A Neptune Street after he allegedly discarded a firearm. This arrest has not been connected to the incident at 64 Broad Street as of yet.

(2): In the 2nd incident, at approximately 10:50 p.m., Lynn Police responded to 25 Johnson Street on a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they located Carlos R. Pichardo, age 33, of Lynn, in the 1st floor apartment. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg. According to witnesses, Pichardo was standing outside of 25 Johnson Street when he was shot by someone who fired several shots from the area of Lloyd Street. The victim and witnesses provided a vague account of what had occurred, and there is no description of a suspect available at this time. Pichardo was transported to North Shore Medical Center (Salem Hospital), Salem, for treatment.

(3): In the 3rd incident, at approximately 1:00 a.m. on 6/8, Lynn Police responded to the parking area of Lynn City Hall, where on the Johnson Street side of the lot, Officers located a male who had sustained a gunshot wound to his head. He was identified as Rafael Andino, age 43, of 9 Surfside Road, Lynn. Andino was transported to the North Shore Medical Center (Salem Hospital), Salem, for treatment. He was then airlifted to Beth Israel Hospital Boston, where he was pronounced dead a short time later. According to witnesses, Andino had gotten out of a vehicle in the area of Johnson and Essex Streets. At this time, someone in another vehicle parked in the area called to them. Andino then approached the vehicle, and was shot by a passenger in the vehicle. The vehicle containing (4) males then fled westbound on Johnson Street. It is not believed that this incident was related to the earlier shooting incident at 25 Johnson Street, which is in close proximity to this incident.

(4): In the 4th incident, at approximately 4:51 a.m., Lynn Police responded to the area of Eastern Avenue and Clark Street on a report of gunshots. A short time later, they were sent to 40 Lambert Avenue, which is nearby, on a report of a gunshot victim. There they located Paul L. Harrison, age 33, of Lynn. Harrison had sustained six gunshot wounds to his lower torso and legs. He was transported to Mass. General Hospital in Boston for treatment. According to witnesses, several gunshots were heard in the area, and a vehicle was observed drive onto Clark Street. No additional information regarding suspects or motive for the incident is available at this time.
