Subject:            Dog Attack

On Thursday, May 17, 2007, at approximately 10:46 A.M., Animal Control Officer Kevin Farnsworth was dispatched to the area of Boston Street and Grove Street, on a report of a dog bite. Lynn Police also responded, and were met by Mr. Mark McKeon, age 56 of Lynn. He stated that he was at the corner of Boston Street and Grove Street when he was knocked to the ground by two dogs, described as pit bulls. One of the dogs bit his left arm. Mr. McKeon was able to identify the animals, prior to being transported to Union Hospital via Action Ambulance.

The Animal Control Officer Kevin Farnsworth was also familiar with the dogs, and located them in front of 29 Grove Street. Upon exiting his vehicle, the dogs aggressively charged towards him. In order to avoid the impending dog attack, Farnsworth was forced to discharge his firearm, killing one of the animals. The second dog ran towards the direction of 29 Grove Street. Officers were able to contain the animal within the fenced in backyard. The owner of the dogs resides at this address, and took custody of the dog. The dog which was destroyed was determined to be the animal that bit Mr. McKeon.

Additionally, it was also reported that Lynn Water and Sewer employees working in front of 46 Grove Street were almost attacked by the dogs. One of the employees had to kick the aggressive dogs away in order to avoid being bitten.
