Subject:            Fund Raiser for Fallen Officer’s Family

On Monday, May 21, 2007, Lynn Police Officers and Lynn District Court Probation Officers will team up with Boston Police Officers in a 70 mile bicycle trek. The purpose of this ride is to raise funds for the family of fallen Manchester New Hampshire Police Officer Michael Briggs. The journey will begin at Government Center in Boston Massachusetts, and end in Manchester New Hampshire. Once in Manchester, participants will meet up with Manchester Police, and ride into Fishercat Baseball Stadium for the finish. There they will present a check to the family, from funds raised through raffle ticket sales, and sponsors.

In October of 2006, 35-year old Officer Michael Briggs sustained a fatal gun shot wound while responding to a call on his police mountain bike, in downtown Manchester New Hampshire. On that fateful evening, Officer Briggs had only five minutes left to the completion of his tour of duty. Unbeknownst to him, this call to duty would be his last. He leaves behind a wife and two young children.

On Monday, May 14, 2007, from 7:00 P.M., to 11:00 P.M., event organizers are holding a Raffle & Comedy night at the Kowloon Restaurant on Rt. 1 in Saugus. There are 300 raffle tickets being sold at $100.00 per ticket. Winners will receive cash prizes. If anyone is interested in buying a raffle ticket, donating towards the ride, or attending the comedy night, please leave a message with the Lynn Police Department, at 781 477-3114. Officer Glen Dunnigan or Probation Officer Terry Ward will be sure to return your phone call. They will be able to provide additional details.
