Date: February 9, 2008 – 11:00 a.m. From: Captain Mark O’Toole Re: Stabbing
At 12:55 a.m. on this date, Lynn Police responded to Cesar’s Palace Lounge, 39 Buffum Street, Lynn, on a report of a fight. Upon arrival, they located (2) injured males. One male had several stab wounds to his upper body, and the other had sustained head trauma. The party who was stabbed is identified as Jose J. Nerys, age (39), of Lynn. He was transported to Mass. General Hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The other injured party is identified as Jose Alberto Miguel, age (43), of Lynn. He was also transported to Mass. General Hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries to his head. Initial witness statements indicate that the incident occurred outside of the lounge during closing. Miguel apparently became involved in an argument with a male in the alley adjacent to the lounge, and was then assaulted by the male. Nerys then came to the aid of Miguel, at which point he was stabbed. The description of the subject wanted in connection with the incident is a Hispanic male, (25) to (30) years of age, with long black hair. He was wearing prescription glasses, a gray hooded sweatshirt, and a baseball hat. The investigation into the incident is being continued by Det. Stephen Pohle of the Lynn Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, as well as Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Anyone with information concerning this incident is encouraged to call Lynn Police at (781) 595-2000.
